Walruses Struggle to Adapt to Global Warming

I have decided to keep the topic for this week on global warming because I truly feel its an extremely important issue that us humans must solve.  During this summer, the north has experienced the third-lowest Arctic Sea levels in thirty years.  These drastic effects from global warming may help to make places like northern Alaska more tolerable for human beings, but they are also disrupt the natural habitats of many species that have lived in the Arctic for thousands of years.  Species like the walrus are finding new ways to cope with the retreating sea ice and are attempting to adapt to this new environment.  In Point Lay, Alaska, 20,000 walruses have congregated on the shoreline waiting for sea ice to return to their habitat.  Walruses can't swim forever and use the sea ice to rest on top of after they finish hunting, similar to the polar bear.  The tundra is usually already completely frozen by this time of year, but currently there isn't ice to be seen for miles.  If this trend continues, in about 20 years sea ice could no longer exist in arctic summers and possibly cause the mass extinction of many native species.  It is up to humans to solve this huge problem that they have bestowed on the world before its too late.

I have linked a video that reports the walrus enigma present in Alaska.

  1. I utterly and respectfuly well not really but I disagree. First it's not up to humans, if humans could change something as drastic as gloval warming then the Aztecs would consider us gods, which clearly we're not seeing how we still don't have a cure for the common cold, but going back to global warming I think we could help and lessen the impact it might have but stop it or make a drastic change on it. Don't think so, but it's always good to look at both side's so I had fun posting this comment, unless it was too long and decided you didn't want to rea it,in that case, sad face.

  2. I agree that we can't fully stop global warming and it is inevitable , but it is an issue that humans helped rapidly speed up. So in a way, it is our responsibility to help slow it down.

  3. I agree that humans should try to solve the problem of global warning but I think that global warming is not entirely our fault. I think that we helped speed up the process but we should do what we can to solve this problem because we live on this planet too.
