Right now, Pakistan is dealing with probably its worst flood in over eighty years. This is all due to heavy monsoon rains that have flooded about twenty-five percent of the country from north to south. As time passes, the death toll continues to rise and rise, almost doubling in about two weeks to about 1500. People aren't dying from drowning in the water, but rather from being stranded and malnourished. Over six million Pakistan citizens are now homeless and starving, having no place to go and in desperate need of help.
The world has been hearing about this on going issue for over a month now, but still Pakistan is getting barely any donations from other world countries. In total, the United States has given about seven million dollars. That's not even two cents per person! The United States is the most charitable nation in the world, averaging about 300 billion dollars annually. How does this look to the world that we are barely doing anything to help the suffering people in Pakistan? Below are a few links to donate to help the 20 million people affected by this horrific flood. The smallest donation is enough to better another's life.

Perhaps it would be helpful if you posted links to organizations that take donations?
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting topic for a blog. It's horrible to hear what has happened in Pakistan. I don't watch the news a lot so this blog will be very helpful for me.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a pretty original topic to blog about especially for a high school student. I like to watch Nightly News with Brian Williams so I could relate to the topics. Some advice would be you could follow what he broadcasts and then make your own twist on it. I just recently went to New York and saw the desk that he sits at, which was pretty cool, so you could do your own video broadcast with a desk that you sit at.
