The Mexican Drug Cartel is Becoming Similar to an Insurgency

Mexico has been having a war; a war filled with drugs and armed rebellions.  Officials are saying that this situation is starting to look very similar to how Colombia looked about twenty years ago.  About 30,000 people have died, mainly drug traffickers and police officers, in this four-year war.  In the past month, three city mayors have been killed and threats to others have increased.  Everyday the insurgency is becoming more and more sophisticated and attempting to use whatever means necessary to defeat the government.  Just recently the cartel has started to use car bombings. The primary reason for all this violence is to claim key smuggling territory for the Mexican drug cartel.  The overall cause of this war is the United States.  Every single year $40 billion worth of cocaine, heroine, and marijuana are secretly transported over the Mexico/US border.  Since our business is the driving force in the war, I think it is somewhat our responsibility to assist the Mexican Government in crushing this drug uprising.

I have linked a video that truly summarizes the whole war and what it is actually like in Mexico.

  1. I have read much about this topic recently. I predict that these issues will spill over to the United States much sooner than we would like.
