It has been three months since the Chilean mine collapsed trapping 33 men. This past Wednesday every trapped miner was rescued, one by one, through a narrow escape capsule. During these harsh and truly life altering three months, these miners have forged a great bond that will probably unite them for the rest of their lives. When their hospital check-ups cease this Friday, all 33 miners will separate for the first time in over 60 days. Doctors have confirmed that no miner is suffering from any life-threatening illness, but that most of them will probably have lasting emotional damage.
I was so happy to see that all of the miners had finally made it out. I heard that the rescue was supposed to happen in December but the rescue workers must have worked really hard to be able to get the miners out two months ahead of the given schedule. It's also great to see that all the miners have been reunited with their families and that they all should be alright.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was pretty excited to see the last miner, the leader of the group as he emerged from his tomb for the first time in 69 extenuating days. (The accident occurred August 5th, making the time 69, not 90 days.)
ReplyDeleteI found this crazy that minners were stuck in the cave for so long and ended up perfectly fine. The only thing that i heard was that they will have emotional problems as you said and may have the problem of for example, freaking out when they see an animal in a cage. This is because they begin to think of themselves in the cave.
